President Robert Barchi announced that Prof. Hana Godrich and Prof. Waheed Bajwa have been awarded Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching.   Professor Hana Godrich was selected to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching and Professor Waheed Bajwa was selected to receive the Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence. Each award carries an honorarium of $1000 and was presented to Drs. Godrich and Bajwa at Winants Hall.

The 2017 Commencement was held at Rutgers Stadium on Sunday May 14th. Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient was musician, actor and social activist Steven Van Zandt. The 2017 ECE Senior Reception was held on Saturday May 13th.   Prof. Narayan Mandayam, ECE Department Chair, spoke to the graduating seniors and their families.   Prof. Hana Godrich, ECE Undergraduate Director, presented awards to this year's Capstone Winners.   Prof. Zoran Gajic, the ECE Graduate Director, presented awards to the TA of the Semester, and the Graduate Academic Excellence Awards.

Twenty-nine years ago, Doreen Sparrow began her journey to become an engineer and enrolled as a freshman at Rutgers. Her experience in college, however, turned out to be anything but typical. She left school three times – to get married and have children. "It's been a long road," says Doreen, who has six children ranging in age from 14 to 26.

Rutgers Day was held on Saturday, April 29th in the Engineering Quad. ECE had a large tent just behind the SoE Building and many people showed up…fortunately the weather after the early-morning storm cooperated throughout the joyful event.

We would like to congratulate this year’s senior students who participated in the ECE capstone program and their advisers for a job well done! Over 200 students participated in this year capstone program, forming 55 teams. Our students’ capabilities, creativity, and engineering skills were reflected in this year projects.
